High Desert Knife

High Desert Knife

Description:
A very large biface knife blade with excurvate sides and a rounded to pointed base. Flaking quality is usually very high. This knife was made by several pre-historic groups in the Great Basin, Columbia Plateau and adjoining territory. Formational flaking, pressure flaking, blade edge alignment and silhouette profiles are a close approximation of each other. Until there is a manufacturing formulation, these blades cannot be assigned to any one culture or group unless found in situ.
