Wheeler Expanded Base
- Time Period : 11500-10000 B.P.
- Location : Northwest Alabama and southern Tennessee.
- Shape : Auriculate
Description:
A small to medium size, very narrow, thin, lanceolate point with expanding, squared ears forming a "Y" at the base which is "V" notched. Most examples have high quality collateral flaking. This very rare type has been found on Wheeler sites in the type area. Scarcity of this type suggests that it was not in use but for a short period of time.
