Sandia
- Time Period : 13200-8000 B.P.
- Location : Type site is Sandia Mtns., New Mexico, south of Albuquerque.
- Shape : Stemmed
Description:
This point was reported to occur in three forms: The first form is a narrow, elliptical shape with only one shoulder and a rounded base. The second form has a slightly concave base, otherwise it is the same as the first form. The third form has a deeply concave base with drooping auricles. This, as well as the second form, have been found fluted on one or both faces. If the type exists, and it probably doesn't, it may be later than Clovis. Another site with datable contex has not yet been found. Originally (questionably?) carbon dated to 20,000 B.P.
