Lancet

Lancet

Description:
Also known as a lammeler flake blade, it was produced by striking a flake or spall off a parent stone and was used as a knife for cutting. Some examples are notched for hafting. Recent experiments proved that these knives were sharper than a surgeon’s scalpel. Similar to burins which are fractured at one end to produce a sharp point.
